Police look for SkyTrain sex assault suspect

Police are looking to identify a suspect after a woman reported being sexually assaulted at a SkyTrain station in Surrey last summer.

According to the Metro Vancouver Transit Police department, a woman walked into Surrey Central station just after 6 a.m. on Aug. 17. As she was making her way up to the platform, police say the woman was followed closely by another person. Investigators say the woman was then sexually assaulted while on the escalator.

Transit police say they’ve “exhausted every possible lead” over the past several months, and are now turning to the public for help in identifying the suspect.

“Anyone who recognizes the individual is asked to call police,” Const. Amanda Steed said Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024.

Police have provided video of the suspect, with the hopes of identifying them.

The individual is described as being between 30 to 40 years old. They are about 5’10” to 6′ tall with a slender build, and were reportedly wearing a long, dark, wavy wig at the time.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators by calling 604.515.8300 or texting 87.77.77, and quoting file #24-2601.
