Bear spray-wielding teens spur police response at Metrotown mall

A fight between a large group of teens at Burnaby’s Metropolis at Metrotown triggered a police response Monday.

Police in Burnaby say they responded to a report of a fight at around 6:30 p.m. Several of the teens involved deployed bear spray and it’s believed some of them also had knives, police add.

Upon arrival, officers say all suspects and victims had fled the scene.

No bystanders or security personnel were reported to have been hit by the bear spray and there are no known injuries.

Police say they will be looking at surveillance tape and speaking to witnesses to carry out their investigation.

So far, no arrests have been made.
