Spring-like weather coming to Metro Van this week

After a winter of ups and downs, it appears the Lower Mainland is in for some spring-like weather days before the new season begins.

CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam says sunshine and rising temperatures are in the forecast for later this week.

“This is great news because, today, we’re getting into that mix of sun and cloud, temperatures right around 10°C. We’ll have similar conditions for tomorrow, still dealing with a little cloud cover but plenty of sunshine,” he said Tuesday.

“For Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, this is when things really start to improve.”

On Thursday, he says temperatures are expected to get up into the low teens, with the mercury rising into the mid teens on Friday.

“That means areas away from the water, you have a shot of hitting the upper teens for daytime highs,” Lam explained.

“Then for Saturday, we’re talking about temperatures in the mid-to-upper teens, and away from the water, you have a shot of hitting 20°C … So, it’s almost time to break out the shorts and t-shirts because spring is coming a little early this year.”

The first day of spring is next week, on March 19.
