A number of guests were stuck on the Blackcomb gondola, at Whistler Blackcomb, for several hours Thursday, CityNews has learned.
A spokesperson for Whistler Blackcomb says the gondola stopped working just after 4 p.m. because of an electrical issue. It took an hour and a half to clear guests off the upper line, the resort says. After about two hours, the lower line began operating at a reduced speed, with some guests able to get off then.
Some guests were stuck on the lift for almost three hours, however.
“There were no reported injuries,” the spokesperson said. “Whistler Blackcomb will assess and perform maintenance as needed prior to reopening the lift to the public.”
CityNews has requested further information regarding how many guests were affected by the issue.
