Couple in their 90s tie the knot in White Rock

Love is in the air for 90-year-old Betty-Ann Baxter and 92-year-old Hubert Romer, as the two get married after a whirlwind 8 month courtship.

Love is in the air for 90-year-old Betty-Ann Baxter and 92-year-old Hubert Romer, as the two tied the knot after a whirlwind eight-month courtship.

This isn’t your typical love story — it’s one that started at a seniors’ retirement home.

The pair met each other on a social outing and have been inseparable since, and after dating for less than a year, Romer decided to take their relationship to the next step.

“He said he wanted to go on a cruise and I said, will I get my own room? No? My own bed? And I said no, I can’t go, because I don’t sleep with anyone unless I’m married,” Baxter said.

Baxter’s daughter, Joslyn Alderson, recalls when she first found out about the engagement.

“She called me and said guess what? I said what, [she said] ‘Hubert just proposed,” Alderson said. “And the rest is history.”

Baxter shares her memory of their first kiss.

“It was absolutely magic,” she said. “It is never too late. I mean, he is 93 this year and I’m 90. Just be healthy and happy.”

Romer also has a message for those looking for love.

“The best thing is if you have a champion, and you trust each other, and if you have problems, you can tell them and you solve everything together,” he said.
