A&W employee taken to hospital after car crashes into North Vancouver restaurant

One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car drove into the A&W Restaurant on 920 Marine Drive in North Vancouver Saturday.

RCMP Const. Mansoor Sahak tells CityNews the injured person is an employee of the restaurant, and the driver also sustained minor injuries.

BC Emergency Health Services says they received a report just after noon of a vehicle crashing into the building.

“Primary care paramedics in two ambulances and a supervisor provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient to hospital,” BCEHS Spokesperson Bowen Osoko said.

Sahak says police are still on scene investigating.

“This investigation is early stages; the collision team has been called out to assist and our officers are currently collecting evidence,” Sahak told CityNews. “There remains heavy traffic in and around that area. So we’re cautioning drivers to avoid the area if they can due to the traffic congestion. Currently, the restaurant is closed to the public.”

There’s no word on the cause of the crash. This is a developing story.
