Man stabbed after confrontation on Surrey bus: RCMP

A man was taken to hospital Saturday after being stabbed in the abdomen following a confrontation that began on a Surrey transit bus.

Mounties say the attack happened just after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fraser Highway and 152nd Street in the Guildford area.

The man was taken to hospital where he is receiving care.

Police say it appears the victim and another man started an argument on the bus, and when they both left the bus, one of them pulled a knife.

“The investigation is still in the early stages, but initial indications are that the two individuals are not known to each other,” the RCMP said in a news release.

Police say the victim is in stable condition.

Both men are in their 20s. The suspect is described as being Caucasion with a muscular build.

The Surrey RCMP is asking anyone with any information about the crime to call 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-37024. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
