Surrey man, 60, sent to hospital after confrontation leads to stabbing

A stabbing in Surrey sent one person to hospital on Saturday evening, police say.

Surrey RCMP received reports of a stabbing outside an apartment building at 133A Street and Old Yale Road near the Surrey Central City area at 9:56 p.m.

Mounties reached the site and found a 60-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

He was transported to hospital for emergency medical treatment and is in stable condition, police say.

RCMP says a suspect was identified at the scene, and arrested. He is currently in police custody.

“Initial information has that the suspect came to the apartment building and a confrontation occurred with persons outside the building which resulted in the stabbing,” said Sgt. Duane Honeyman in a statement.

Police say it is unknown if there is any relationship between the victim and the suspect but it is under investigation.
