Homicide investigators say a charge of second-degree murder has been laid in connection with a “suspicious death” at the University Endowment Lands in Vancouver.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says Mounties with the University RCMP were called to a home on Shortcut Road around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a “female in medical distress.”
The woman died of her injuries and two people were arrested at the scene in connection with the death.
“As the parties were known to one another, investigators believe this may have been a tragic incident of intimate partner violence,” said Corp. Esther Tupper of IHIT.

IHIT says the second-degree murder charge was approved on Thursday against 35-year-old Yang “Christopher” Liang. It’s unclear if charges are pending against the second person who was taken into custody.
Investigators say anyone who is a victim of intimate partner violence can reach out to police or VictimLinkBC for support.
