Police say two men have been arrested after a shoplifter reportedly assaulted a loss prevention officer (LPO) before threatening to kill him.
According to the Burnaby RCMP, officers were called out just before 9 p.m. Friday, March 22, to a business in Market Crossing at Byrne Road and Marine Way.
Police say when they arrived the suspect had already fled the scene. A 54-year-old man believed to be connected to the original suspect was arrested. He was found to be breaching several conditions for a prior incident.
The LPO was treated by emergency health services (EHS) for minor injuries.
Mounties searched the area and questioned witnesses at the scene.
Later, the original suspect — a 35-year-old man was found at another location, according to police.
RCMP says both suspects were released from the scene with court dates and numerous conditions.
The investigation is ongoing.
