Two dead in Kelowna as RCMP investigates homicide

Police in Kelowna say they are conducting an investigation into a homicide after finding two deceased people in a business earlier this week.

Mounties found the two deceased after being called out to the business on Adams Road near Highway 97 Wednesday around 2:30 a.m. after a report of shots fired, followed by a fire.

The Kelowna Serious Crimes Unit is working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the cause of death.

Police had closed down a section of Highway 97 near the business and evacuated the area for several hours Wednesday afternoon.

“From the onset, this investigation required many resources including but not limited to General Duty, Investigative Services, Police Dog Services, the SED Emergency Response Team, and the Kelowna Fire Department,” Corp. Michael Gauthier said after the road was reopened Wednesday.

“Because this incident also included a structure fire in the location of interest, it will take some time before our officers can safely go in and continue the investigation.

Mounties say the public is not at risk and the incident was isolated.

Anyone with any information about the investigation is being asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and quote file number 2024-15930. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
