Woman dead after incident on Victoria Drive near Kingsway Saturday

The Vancouver Police Department was on scene Saturday at Kingsway and Victoria Drive. A white tent was set up on the scene into the afternoon, awaiting the Coroner. The Forensic Investigations Unit was also on site.

Vancouver police are sharing a few more details about a fatal incident in East Vancouver Saturday morning that resulted in a closure of Victoria Drive northbound at Kingsway for several hours.

Police say a 37-year-old woman was found injured on the road near the Esso Gas Station at that intersection just before 5 a.m.

No details about how the woman became injured have been released, but police say she died at the scene.

Photos show a tent set up just north of the intersection in front of the parking lot for an Esso service station and a 7-Eleven store.

Images show numbered evidence markers along the sidewalk.

Police tape surrounded the tent on all sides and extends for several feet along the sidewalk.

Several police officers were on scene and multiple police vehicles could be seen on the street and in the parking lot.

The VPD’s major crime unit is investigating and police are asking any witnesses or anyone with further information or dashcam footage to give them a call at 604-717-2500.
