Fire in Port Coquitlam damages two homes; 2 people taken to hospital

A fire that broke out Sunday morning in Port Coquitlam caused extensive damage to two homes and sent two people to hospital, according to emergency crews.

Port Coquitlam Fire and Emergency Services says it responded to the blaze on Langan Avenue near Pitt River Road around 10 a.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Jason Marshall says the structure fire involved two houses.



Marshall says one firefighter was injured while battling the fire. The firefighter received medical attention at the scene before being transported to hospital. He says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Both patients taken to hospital were in stable condition, BC Emergency Health Services says.

Victim Services is assisting residents affected by the incident, Marshall says.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
