Kamloops man arrested for robbery and assault, police say

A Kamloops man has been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated assault.

Police say they were called to the area of Angus Street and Mackenzie Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of two people fighting, followed by a plea for police.

“Officers arrived and located a man with serious injuries and a suspect nearby,” said Corp. Crystal Evelyn.

“Shortly after, the suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer.”

The victim was sent to hospital, and the police officer was not injured.

26-year-old Jamie Jason Gillam is being charged with one count each of robbery, aggravated assault, assault of a police officer, and theft under $5,000.

Gillam will remain in custody until his next court appearance on April 10.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and refer to file 2024-9539.
