Stabbing in Victoria leaves 1 person dead

A man is dead after a stabbing in Victoria late Tuesday night.

Police say officers received a report just before midnight that someone had been stabbed in the area of Douglas Street and Topaz Avenue, in Victoria’s Burnside neighbourhood.

Despite paramedics and officers providing the man with first aid, he died of his injuries.

Victoria police say no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, though they add investigators believe the stabbing was “an isolated incident” with “no ongoing risk to community safety.”

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is now asking anyone with information to contact the VIIMCU Information Line at 250-380-6211.
