Car crashes into downtown Vancouver dental office

A vehicle crashed into a downtown Vancouver dental office Thursday, leaving behind broken class and several shocked onlookers.

It happened along Hornby Street between Helmcken and Nelson streets around noon. Images of the scene show the front end of the vehicle fully through a window, with piles of glass around it.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services members and police officers were also on scene.

“Everybody was extricated from the vehicle, no problem, on their own. Yes, there is damage to the building — broken glass and unknown structural damage. I don’t even know if there was any structural damage but we do have somebody coming out to see if there is any,” said VFRS Assistant Chief Jarret Gray.

BC Emergency Health Services says in an email that one person was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

“One primary care paramedic ambulance attended the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient to hospital in stable condition,” said Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.

It’s unclear what caused the vehicle to veer off the road and into the business.
