“It shows diversity in our community, in our culture, and we love that, as Canadians, as proud Canadians, we can say that. I’m proud,” said one person.

“Everybody in my family, my entire family is actually excited about it,” another fan added.

Diljit’s manager confirmed his arrival in Vancouver Thursday, posting pictures and video on Instagram as the artist prepares for his much-anticipated concert.

What was originally a one-night-only stadium show exclusively in Vancouver has morphed into a full North American tour, culminating with another stadium concert in Toronto in July.

On Saturday, BC Place will mark the first stop on Diljit’s schedule.

“We’re shaping up for an incredible show, I understand the biggest … Punjabi show ever outside of India. So, we’re excited. I mean … Diljit had built an entire tour off the back of the BC Place show. So, it’s a pretty great situation,” said BC Place GM Chris May.

The superstar has made history in Vancouver before, as well. In 2022, he became the first Punjabi musician to sell out Rogers Arena.

However, the BC Place crowd will be much bigger, with nearly 50,000 people expected to be in attendance.

Tickets for Saturday night’s show sold out fast, though some are still available through the resale market at a markup. Prices range from $100 to $7,500.
