Man on Canada-wide arrest warrant arrested in Chilliwack: RCMP

Mounties have arrested an Alberta man in Chilliwack for child pornography offences.

Chilliwack RCMP says the Serious Crime Unit got an urgent call on Thursday, April 25, from the Grande Prairie RCMP’s Special Investigations Unit asking for help in “locating and apprehending” a man who was on a Canada-wide arrest warrant.

Police say, he had recently come to Chilliwack and was attempting to flee the country.

RCMP says it was able to locate and arrest the man within a short time without any issues.

The man is currently held in custody and will be returned to Alberta to answer to charges against him.

“We strive to ensure that those who commit crimes against children are held accountable through the court system,” Cst. Tobi Araki of the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime unit said.

Police say due to the nature of the investigation the identity of the man is not released right now.
