Murder charge laid after woman found dead in Surrey home

Investigators say a 39-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder, after a woman was found dead in her Surrey home in April.

The RCMP was called to a home in the area of 76th Avenue and 142nd Street the night of April 26. The victim has since been identified as 33-year-old Pawitarpreet Kaur Sidhu, but not many other details were shared about what happened.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says Hardeep Sidhu was arrested in connection with Pawitarpreet’s death on May 1, with the help of border officials and B.C.’s anti-gang agency.

“This was an isolated incident between parties that were known to each other,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT Thursday.

IHIT is asking anyone with information about this investigation, or anyone who had recent contact with either Pawitarpreet or Hardeep, to contact the team either at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
