A male security guard is in hospital with serious injuries following a shooting outside rapper Drake’s home in The Bridle Path.

Emergency crews were called to Park Lane Circle near Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East just after 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

The male victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital. Duty Inspector Paul Krawczyk said that the security guard was outside of Drake’s residence at the gate when someone in a vehicle drove by and opened fire. So far, no suspect or vehicle descriptions have been made available.

Insp. Krawczyk said it’s unknown whether Drake was home at the time but that members of his team are cooperating with the investigation. Toronto police have also collected video evidence of the shooting that they will be reviewing.

Drake is currently at the centre of an ongoing public feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The two have been exchanging songs on a near-daily basis, and both rappers have released a series of diss tracks aimed at one another.

On Lamar’s most recent single, titled “Not Like Us,” he shares a Google Maps image of Drake’s Bridle Path mansion as the cover art. Drake responded with the track “THE HEART PART 6,” which he uploaded to YouTube.

Insp. Krawczyk wouldn’t comment on a motive in the shooting but did acknowledge that authorities would consider speaking with U.S. investigators as part of this incident.
