Chilliwack RCMP arrest suspect wielding knife at Shoppers Drug Mart

Chilliwack RCMP have arrested a man in relation to an incident with a weapon at a Shoppers Drug Mart Tuesday morning.

Mounties say they responded to a report of a man weilding a knife at the retail store around 9:30 a.m.

Before their arrival, police say the man had been asked to leave the store and pulled a knife on security guards. Police say the Shoppers Drug Mart security was able to “contain” the suspect until officers arrived to arrest him.

Corp. Carmen Kiener told CityNews the man accidently injured himself while being detained, though only superficially. She said no one else was injured in the incident.

Kiener says the suspect is facing several charges, but details for those charges are not yet public.
