North Shore Rescue airlifts 80-year-old hiker from Grouse Mountain area

An 80-year-old hiker was rescued from a trail around Grouse Mountain Friday after suffering an ankle injury.

In a post to social media, North Shore Rescue says it responded to a call from an injured hiker on the Dam Mountain Trail Friday afternoon.

Crews hoisted the hiker to safety with a Talon helicopter shortly after the call.

The rescue service issued a reminder to the public that, despite reopening for the summer, “there is still a lot of snow in the mountains, so be prepared for winter conditions if you go hiking.”
