Fatal plane crash reported near Squamish

A fatal plane crash is being investigated near Squamish on Saturday.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada told CityNews that it is working with the Squamish RCMP and Coroners office after a plane crash.

Mounties say they received an automatic crash notification from a smartphone after the crash happened on Friday evening.

According to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), the location was approximately 20 nautical miles north of Vancouver. It says it was called just before 6:30 p.m. to search Mount Ellesmere and surrounding areas for the aircraft.
