1 dead, another hurt in ATV crash near Agassiz

Police in the Fraser Valley say one person is dead and another was badly hurt after an ATV crashed near Agassiz last week.

The RCMP received reports of the collision at the four-kilometre mark of the East Harrison Forestry Service Road just after 10:30 p.m. on June 4.

When officers arrived, they found two men at down an embankement. Both had what are being described as significant injuries.

“Combined efforts of Agassiz RCMP, B.C. Emergency Health Services, Search and Rescue, and Agassiz Fire Department were crucial in navigating the steep terrain to access the collision site,” the Agassiz RCMP said in a release Monday.

A man in his mid 30s was declared dead at the scene, while the other man, who is in his late 20s, was taken to the hospital.

It’s unclear what caused the crash.
