Neil Young cancels Burnaby shows, other Canadian tour dates

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced the cancellation of all remaining shows on their ‘Love Earth’ tour until September, including two shows in Burnaby originally set for July.

The 78-year-old singer-songwriter announced Wednesday that the tour is taking a “big unplanned break” after falling ill.

“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far,” Young wrote in a post on his website.

“When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob [Theatre], we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered.”

The group added it will “try to play some of the dates” when the members are ready to rock again.

Two shows at Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park, set for July 22 and 23, have been cancelled, as well as seven others including venues in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Winnipeg.

Ticketmaster claims that an automatic refund will be issued to all ticket holders.

The July 22 concert was sold out. The festival lawn at Deer Lake Park has a reported capacity of 10,000 people.

In the post to his website, Young, and members of Crazy Horse apologized to fans and thanked them for their understanding.
