Shots fired in Richmond after road rage incident: RCMP

The Richmond RCMP is on the lookout for multiple suspects after a road rage incident ended with gunshots on Friday.

Mounties say they were called to a shooting near Lansdowne and River roads just before 6:15 p.m.

Police say the victim alleged he was driving his white Mercedes van near Alderbridge Way and No. 3 Road when he was cut off by the driver of a white Kia.

When the victim pulled up next to the Kia at the intersection of Alderbrige Way and Lansdowne Road he shouted at the driver. A passenger in the Kia allegedly responded by shooting at the victim with a gun.

Police say the victim was not hit by any bullets but was injured by the glass of his driver’s side window shattering. The Kia was reportedly last seen driving eastbound on Lansdowne Road.

Richmond RCMP Corp. Adriana O’Malley tells CityNews that road rage resulting in gun violence isn’t typical. She says the investigators are searching for “at least two individuals” seen inside the Kia.

In a statement, officer-in-charge of Investigative Services and Community Engagement Insp. Michael Cohee called the incident “a reckless and brazen act.”

Cohee and the RCMP are asking anyone with information to call 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-20250.

If you were driving in the area on Friday, June 28, at the time of the alleged shooting, mounties are asking you to check your dashcam footage for evidence.
