Homicide team deployed to Maple Ridge

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed to Maple Ridge.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP says officers were called to the area of 232 Street and 132 Avenue for reports of “an unidentified female who was bleeding” around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, they found a woman with serious injuries.

Police say paramedics and firefighters were called, but despite the best efforts of first responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m.

No further details about the woman’s injuries have been provided. The RCMP says it does not believe there are any threats to public safety.

The woman’s identity has not been shared at this time.
