Man arrested, charged for Port Moody home invasion

Several criminal charges have been approved against a man following a targeted home invasion in Port Moody in April.

Officers were called to a family home in the Heritage Woods area, around 8 a.m. on April 28. When they arrived, police say the suspects had left the scene, but officers found multiple people there with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

At the time of the incident, Port Moody PD did not disclose what the suspect’s motivation was.

Since then, Major Crime Section investigators have reportedly identified the suspect.

Police say the suspect was arrested at Vancouver International Airport last week after re-entering the country.

“This was a targeted and violent home invasion with the objective of stealing cryptocurrency,” said Acting Sgt. Sam Zacharias.

PMPD says a total of seven charges have been approved against the man, which include aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and break and enter.

Zacharias says the suspect remains in custody until his next court appearance, while police “look to identify other suspects.”
