Man drowns in Porteau Cove Provincial Park over long weekend

The Squamish RCMP says a man drowned at Porteau Cove Provincial Park over the weekend.

In a news release Tuesday, the RCMP said that despite life-saving efforts made by emergency crews, the man died at the scene.

Mounties say they have notified the man’s family of his passing. They have confirmed that there was no criminal activity associated with the man’s death.

“(RCMP) have turned the investigation over to the BC Coroner Service,” Mounties said.

Police say they will not release the identity of the man.
