Man arrested after shots fired in downtown Vancouver Friday evening

Police have arrested a man after shots were fired in downtown Vancouver Friday evening.

The VPD says the man was found shooting a gun into an open parking lot near Granville and Helmcken just after 6 p.m.

“Officers observed this and took the man into custody,” Const. Tania Visintin told 1130 NewsRadio.

“There were no injuries and firearm related charges will be recommended.”

Police are investigating the incident.

“Officers are working to collect more evidence and piece together what circumstances led up to the shooting,” Visintin said.

The VPD says there is no risk to public safety.
