Surrey stabbing suspect arrested, charged

The Surrey RCMP says a man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in the Whalley neighbourhood Wednesday night.

Police were called to the area of King George Boulevard and 105 Avenue just after 7 p.m. for reports of an assault with a weapon.

Mounties say officers found a victim in the area with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation so far has determined the victim and suspect, identified as Sukhjit Hans, know each other and that there may have been a “brief interaction” before the stabbing.

Police say Hans appeared before a judge on Friday, and has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats.

He remains in custody until his next court date.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 604-599-0502.
