Earthquakes Canada says a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred and was lightly felt near Haida Gwaii on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 around 8:15 p.m.

Emergency Info BC, says a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred and was lightly felt near Haida Gwaii Tuesday evening.

Earthquakes Canada reports that it was lightly felt in Port Clements at 8:17 p.m.

The location is reported to be 836 km west-northwest of Vancouver. 

It says a tsunami is not expected and an early warning alert for the event was sent.
