Magnitude 4.2 earthquake felt near Haida Gwaii: Gov’t of Canada

Emergency Info BC, says a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred and was lightly felt near Haida Gwaii Tuesday evening.

Earthquakes Canada reports that it was lightly felt in Port Clements at 8:17 p.m.

The location is reported to be 836 km west-northwest of Vancouver. 

It says a tsunami is not expected and an early warning alert for the event was sent.

Those who felt the earthquake can fill out a government questionnaire about it on Earthquakes Canada’s website.
