Woman in hospital after being stabbed early Sunday morning, says Surrey RCMP

The Surrey RCMP says a woman is unconscious in hospital after being stabbed early Sunday morning.

Police were called around 2 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the area of King George and 108th Street. When they arrived, they found a woman who was unconscious and covered in blood. It was then they determined she hadn’t been involved in a motor vehicle accident but had been a victim of a stabbing.

A possible suspect was found and taken into custody and the woman was taken to hospital.

“Victim has not yet been positively identified, but police believe they will be able to confirm identity,” Sgt. K. Matsumoto told 1130 NewsRadio.

The attack was targeted and the public is not at risk, Matsumoto said.

The file remains under investigation.
