BC NDP Leader David Eby is promising to build a new school in Campbell River if his party gets reelected Oct. 19.
He says the plan is to replace Cedar Elementary School and rebuild the Laichwiltach Family Society, which used to be located in the current Cedar Elementary until a fire destroyed the annex that housed it.
“For the entire community of Campbell River, it will be a building that everyone will be proud of, but most importantly, it will be a building where really important services for kids, the most valued and important members of our society, are looked after,” Eby said.
The Laichwiltach Family Society provides daycare and other services to over 1,000 Indigenous people from around the region.
Eby made the announcement in Campbell River Friday, building on the party’s platform released last week, which includes more support for K-12 students in the province.
