The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. at a construction site near Hastings Street and Glen Drive.

Details remain thin, but VFRS confirmed to CityNews that the crane lost its load from an elevated position. The load then fell into the construction site and onto the nearby street.

VFRS Capt. Matt Trudeau says no one was injured in the incident.

“Whatever fell somehow didn’t hit the trolley lines, it didn’t hit any persons, and it didn’t cause any further damage or any other incident from there. And there was nothing else hanging — so there was really nothing else to stabilize or reduce any kind of dangers that were on scene,” said Trudeau.

He says a portion of the street was damaged on impact.

WorkSafeBC also confirmed to 1130 NewsRadio that it was called to a crane incident in that location. WorksafeBC says it has officers attending the scene Tuesday afternoon.

VFRS crews left the scene after WorkSafeBC started its investigation.
