The Richmond RCMP is looking for witnesses after an alleged arson at a bus shelter last week.
Police say they were made aware of the incident around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, after a passerby reported the blaze near the intersection of Railway Avenue and Woodwards Road.
The passerby said the shelter was “fully engulfed in flames.”
Richmond Fire-Rescue crews were able to put out the fire before local police arrived. Mounties say officers saw extensive damage to the bench and the overhead shelter.
The Richmond RCMP is asking for witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the time of the incident to call 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-34277.
