Mounties investigate stabbing in Surrey’s Newton area

The Surrey RCMP says it is investigating a stabbing in the city’s Newton area early Wednesday morning.

Mounties received a report of a man being injured in an assault around 3 a.m. Police say he had been walking northbound on a footpath in the area of 64th Avenue and 137th Street when he was stabbed by an “unknown male suspect.”

“The Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services assisted in searching for the suspect; however, the suspect was not located,” Sgt. Tammy Lobb said in a statement.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
