Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 34 says it has recovered a man whose boat had flipped over in Cowichan Bay on Saturday.
When the crews left their base, they didn’t know where the man would be and needed to search the bay.
“Luckily, conditions were calm, and they spotted the overturned vessel, an aluminum skiff, quickly,” RCMSAR said on Facebook.
“There was no sign of the missing man, so our crew headed towards the PIM docks, being the closest point of land.”
When they found the man, he was hypothermic, still in the water, and clinging to a piling.
They were able to pull him out of the water and take him to an ambulance waiting nearby.
