Three fires set ‘deliberately’ at Port Moody school: police

Port Moody police are investigating a trio of suspicious occurrences at an elementary school.
The Port Moody Police Department says there have been three separate, “deliberately set” fires at Glenayre Elementary in the past three weeks.
Most recently, police say a teenager wearing dark clothing was seen leaving the area on a bicycle on Sunday.
“We believe that he’s responsible for all three of these incidents, just given the [modus operandi] of the fires,” Const. Sam Zacharias told 1130 NewsRadio.
He says all the fires have taken place outside school hours and in close proximity to the school, but Port Moody Fire Rescue has been able to extinguish the fires quickly, and there’s been no damage to school property.
“So we are asking the public to just keep an extra eye out in that area and to report any suspicious activity to us right away. And of course, if anyone has any sort of information, we would love to hear from them.”
