Stanley Park closes to the public Saturday due to high winds

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation says Stanley Park has been closed to the public Saturday.

Bright Nights is also cancelled for Saturday.

The closure is due to high winds, which they say are “exceeding speeds that increase tree-related hazards.”

“Many of the park’s trees are vulnerable to failure from the hemlock looper outbreak,” the board said on X.

There is no access to the Aquarium during the closure.

Traffic is still being permitted through the park.

Meanwhile, the District of North Vancouver has also closed Lynn Canyon Park.

“Lynn Canyon Park and its surrounding trails are closed due to the windstorm,” the district posted.

“For your safety, please stay out of the area.”
