IHIT releases name of Langley murder victim

The Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has released the name of a murder victim, hoping the public can help with the investigation into his death in September of last year.

On Sept. 22, 2023, the Langley City Fire Rescue Service responded to reports of a bush fire at Nicomekl Park. Upon arrival, they found human remains, and the Langley RCMP later deemed the death to be suspicious.

“Since then, IHIT has pursued a number of investigative avenues to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, and the investigation has been ongoing. In order to further the investigation, IHIT is now identifying the victim as Michael Kashani of Langley,” police said Tuesday.

Kashani was 36 years old at the time, and police say his death has “left a void in his family and community.”

Investigators are hoping someone with information about his Kashani will come forward.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line by calling 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by emailing ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
