Mounties in Chilliwack are asking the public for help in their investigation of a break-and-enter and theft of firearms and foreign currency that took place between Dec. 25 and 27.
Police say they were called out to the area of Lyardon Road near Chilliwack Lake Road and found the home had been ransacked with several items missing.
“Investigators are concerned that up to 25 firearms were stolen that were primarily long guns,” the Chilliwack RCMP said.
“Investigative efforts are continuing to identify the make and model of the firearms.”
In addition to the weapons, police say a significant amount of Vietnamese Dong (VDN) was stolen.
“Police are appealing to anyone involved in currency exchanges to be on the lookout for individuals attempting to exchange large amounts of VDN for other currencies,” the RCMP said.
As well, police are looking for two vehicles that may have been involved in the crime: a small white vehicle and a Ford diesel pickup truck.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 and quote file number 24-55860.
