RCMP investigating after ‘very small pipe bomb’ found on Kamloops beach

Mounties in Kamloops say they are investigating after a pipe bomb was found on a beach on New Year’s Day.

Police were called out to the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. after a suspicious item was found on the beach.

The Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) was then called in.

“Based on the appearance of the item, officers believed it was a very small pipe bomb, which was later confirmed,” said Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Corp. Crystal Evelyn.

“Police immediately protected the area from public access until the EDU could attend and safely dispose of the item later that day.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the RCMP at 250-828-3000 and refer to file 2025-68.
