Police in Surrey say they arrested the driver of a vehicle with Washington state licence plates who failed to stop at the Pacific Highway border crossing Sunday.
The Surrey Police Service says the Canada Border Services Agency flagged a white pickup truck that drove through the border around 8:45 a.m.
“Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in the area. A few minutes later the vehicle was observed travelling northbound on King George Boulevard driving erratically and near 64th Avenue driving into oncoming traffic,” SPS media liaison Ian MacDonald said.
The police service says the driver, who was alone at the wheel, was arrested, and nobody was injured.
Surrey police say the investigation is ongoing and didn’t name the driver.
MacDonald tells CityNews the pickup truck was stolen from Blaine, WA. The pickup and one SPS cruiser were the only damaged vehicles, he says. The SPS says it is working with CBSA and U.S. law enforcement in the investigation.
