City of Vancouver confirms municipal byelection set for April 5

By Ryan Bowles

The City of Vancouver will hold a municipal byelection this spring to fill two recently-vacated city council seats.

The byelection comes as long-time Coun. Adriane Carr announced her resignation from council earlier this month, and Christine Boyle resigned after being elected to B.C.’s legislature.

A statement from the city says advanced voting will take place on March 26 and April 1 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall.

Election Day is set for April 5, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at City Hall or any of 24 Vancouver community centres.

Carr resigned her council seat on Jan. 15, citing frustration with Mayor Ken Sim and what she described as a “toxic” work environment at city hall.

“I have lost confidence and trust in the mayor.” Carr said at her press conference held for her announcement.
