Two people are in hospital and police are investigating after a drive-by shooting and ensuing crash in the Burquitlam neighbourhood Monday.
The Coquitlam RCMP says its officers responded to multiple reports of a believed shooting in the area of Lea Street and Dogwood Street around 9:10 a.m.
“Upon arrival, police located one adult suffering from gunshot injuries who was transported to hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. Subsequent to the incident, a motor vehicle collision ensued with a nearby vehicle, however no significant injuries were sustained,” Mounties said in an update Monday afternoon.
But BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) says it responded to two calls at the scene and transported two people to hospital in stable condition.
Police say a second incident, involving a vehicle on fire, occurred shortly after nearby.
“Investigators are working closely to determine if the two incidents are related,” said RCMP.

Police believe the incident was targeted and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
Investigators are now asking any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the incident to contact the Coquitlam RCMP and quote file number 2025-3451.
