The Coquitlam RCMP says charges have been approved against a Maple Ridge man accused of sexually assaulting nine people in three days last year.
Mounties say the 25-year-old suspect is facing nine counts of sexual assault after allegations made about groping incidents between Dec. 4 and 7, 2024.
At the time, police said they had received seven separate reports of an unknown man inappropriately touching women as they are walking.
Five of the incidents took place on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5 between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Burquitlam area of the city. Two other incidents took place on Friday, Dec. 6 in Glen Park on Pipeline Road.
Police implored the public for help identifying the suspect on Dec. 7, who was arrested one day later.
In an update Wednesday, police said the man was charged in late January.
The suspect was released from custody until his next court date, reportedly on strict conditions, including a curfew and a ban from parks.
“The Coquitlam RCMP thank the numerous complainants for coming forward which helped investigators to expediently identify and arrest a suspect,” said Const. John Graham.
Any additional victims or witnesses are asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency line at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2024-32060.
