Burnaby bike police bust back-to-back wanted suspects

The Burnaby RCMP says two Bike Unit officers made two arrests of suspects with outstanding warrants in as many hours this month.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on March 4, the officers heard a woman yelling for help about a man who was allegedly rummaging through her grocery cart.

“Officers learned that the woman had stepped away from the cart to place her child in her vehicle when the man began digging through her items,” police explained.

The suspect was arrested and Mounties discovered he was wanted for breaching probation, which stemmed from an assault charge.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the same officers reportedly identified another wanted man in an alley near Royal Oak Avenue and Kingsway.

“One of the men was known to these officers, who confirmed that this individual had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft under $5,000 and assault with a weapon.”

In both incidents the suspects were arrested and sent to a Burnaby RCMP holding cell.
