A bait car stolen from Abbotsford this week turned into a trip to McDonald’s.
B.C.’s Auto Crime Police shared video on social media Thursday of a group of thieves taking the car through a drive-through shortly after stealing it.
“Two junior chickens and three McDoubles,” one of the thieves can be heard saying. “This is gangster.”
The clip also shows the moment the thieves realized they were in trouble.
“Oh hey, we’re in a bait car,” one said.
After savoring their food and realizing their mistake, you can hear police officers calling on the group to put their hands up and exit the vehicle.
Bait cars are designed to be stolen and are used to crack down on auto crime in the province. According to the BC government, police can use GPS to track the cars down and catch would-be thieves.
The video ends with a message saying, “Steal a bait car, go to jail.”
