Woman charged with assaulting police officer in East Vancouver

Vancouver police say a woman has been charged after an officer was allegedly assaulted on the job Monday.

The Vancouver Police Department says the officer was responding to reports of a person breaking things and threatening people in a residential building near Clark Drive and East 12th Avenue in the early morning hours.

There, a 33-year-old woman was arrested. Police say “the assault occured after the arrest.”

The woman has been charged with one count of assaulting a police officer, one count of uttering threats, and one count of breaching the conditions of a release order.

She reportedly remains in custody.

The VPD says the officer was taken to hospital, but has since been released.
